In order to ensure high quality and effective teaching of phonics in UK primary schools, the government has published a list of validated systematic synthetic phonics programs. There is no statutory requirement for schools to use one of these programs, but validation status signifies that the program meets all the criteria the government is looking for in phonics teaching.
